deviceWISE®, a Telit Cinterion company, announced today that it will showcase three live production demonstrations at IMTS 2026, taking place September 14–19 in Chicago, Illinois. At Booth 236475, attendees can experience real-world applications of the deviceWISE platform, including visual inspection, robotic sorting, and automated assembly. The demonstrations will also feature agentic AI that can identify faults on a live robotic cell and provide guidance to help operators recover and resume production.
Each demonstration shows a different layer of the platform in action, from connecting and coordinating factory assets to applying edge AI directly on live robotic cells.
At the visual inspection station, deviceWISE Visual Intelligence will inspect circuit boards and other physical objects for defects or missing components. In the agentic AI and digital twin demonstration, a robot will sort colored cubes. In the FANUC AI auto assembly demonstration, a second robot will assemble industrial parts.
Both robotic demonstrations will use Fault Detection & Recovery to reproduce a fault and demonstrate automated recovery through the deviceWISE platform.
Fault handling on robotic lines is typically manual: an operator notices the stoppage, diagnoses the cause and works out the recovery steps. The demonstrations show that analysis happening at the edge, with the platform generating the recovery procedure and guiding the operator through it rather than leaving the line dependent on who happens to be on shift.
The deviceWISE Intelligence Suite uses industrial AI agents to analyze production data and support operational decisions at the edge. When an issue occurs, the platform generates situation-specific recovery procedures and guides operators to a resolution. These capabilities apply to:
- Fault analysis and recovery
- Work process optimization
- Operating procedure compliance
- Workstation monitoring
Fault Detection identifies and diagnoses equipment or process faults and recommends or executes recovery steps. Workstation Sentinel continuously monitors the production line, comparing observed activity against standard operating procedures to flag issues such as incorrect parts or improper feed.
deviceWISE Intelligence Suite integrates the VSS to add scalable visual intelligence. Using Model Context Protocol and NIVDIA NIM microservices, the platform pairs what the cameras see with live machine data and process state, so a visual event is interpreted against what the line is actually doing rather than in isolation. It then evaluates the situation using operational logic and routes the response to the system or the operator that needs it.
“Manufacturers are moving toward systems that decide and act locally, on the line, rather than waiting on a person or a round trip to the cloud. At IMTS we are showing that in practice: agent-based AI at the edge, orchestrated through deviceWISE, taking a live robotic cell from fault to recovery.”
