Rhapsody Launches Guardian to Govern AI Agent and API Access to Healthcare Data and Services

Rhapsody

Rhapsody, a company specializing in infrastructure and automation for agentic interoperability, has unveiled Rhapsody Guardian, an AI governance platform designed to help healthcare providers implement and uphold AI policies by regulating AI agents’ access to medical data and healthcare services.

Unveiled at Rhapsody’s customer conference, Connect, in Boston, Guardian addresses a growing challenge for health systems: translating AI governance policies into controls over what agents can access and do. It authenticates agents, enforces scoped access and rate limits, and records agent, MCP, and API activity, helping organizations advance AI initiatives while maintaining oversight of sensitive healthcare data.

For example, a health system can authorize an agent to access a designated service, restrict it to permitted operations, and limit how frequently it can make requests. Guardian enforces these boundaries and maintains an audit trail of activity passing through it.

“CIOs are under pressure to advance AI initiatives while maintaining control of sensitive healthcare data. They need to know which agents are accessing their systems, what those agents are allowed to do, and whether they stay within those boundaries. Guardian puts their decisions into practice, helping health systems move from AI policy to controlled deployment.”

-Sagnik Bhattacharya, CEO of Rhapsody

Organizations can deploy Guardian independently or alongside Rhapsody, Corepoint, or another integration platform. This flexibility gives health systems a central point for enforcing access policies.

Rhapsody provides healthcare interoperability and automation solutions that help organizations connect systems, govern data access, and do more with the teams they have. Its portfolio spans integration, identity, clinical terminology, AI governance, and interoperability automation, helping healthcare organizations adopt new technology while building on the systems they already use.
