Agility Robotics, a leading developer of humanoid robots and physical AI technologies, announced today that its CEO, Peggy Johnson, will take part in Project Meridian. Commissioned by the Department of War (DoW), the initiative brings together leading industry executives and former government officials to explore the evolving future of warfare and help shape long-term defense capabilities, investment strategies, and priorities.
Led by The MITRE Corporation, Project Meridian will develop strategic recommendations over a 10- to 20-year horizon, exploring emerging technologies, evolving operational concepts and the capabilities needed to address future national security challenges. The initiative brings together leaders from across the defense and technology industries. As a member of the group, Johnson will participate in an individual consultant capacity, drawing on her decades of technology leadership experience and Agility’s expertise in developing and commercially deploying humanoid robots to discussions about how emerging technologies and commercial innovation can support the military’s evolving needs.
“The future of robotics isn’t just about developing new capabilities. It’s about putting those capabilities to work where they can make a meaningful difference. I see an important opportunity for humanoid robots to support the men and women serving our country by taking on physically demanding and repetitive logistics tasks, strengthening supply chains and allowing personnel to focus on higher-value work. I look forward to bringing lessons from real-world commercial deployments to Project Meridian and contributing to a broader conversation about how emerging technologies can address the challenges of future defense operations.”
– Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics
Johnson’s selection for Project Meridian offers a valuable opportunity to bring practical, commercially grounded insight into emerging technologies and explore their potential applications in support of national security. Her involvement is undertaken in her individual capacity as a consultant to MITRE and remains separate from Agility Robotics’ commercial activities and its independent perspective on the responsible development and deployment of humanoid robotics.
Headquartered in Salem, Oregon, with additional offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Fremont, California, Agility Robotics is focused on developing robotic partners designed to complement and enhance the human workforce. Its flagship general-purpose humanoid robot, Digit, is a pioneering multi-purpose, human-centered system designed specifically for workplace applications and is already being commercially deployed. With more than 65,000 hours of real-world operational experience and a strong emphasis on industry-leading safety standards, Agility Robotics is helping advance a new generation of automation aimed at increasing productivity while enabling people to focus on higher-value work.
